I spoke with the general director office today regarding the certificates. Unfortunately no certificate will be handed over as all citizenship applications went for another stage which is deep verification. Apparently some of applications got approved without being verified or they are not qualified for citizenship. The good news is they will start handing over the certificates from February or march as the certificates are printed already and waiting for final approval and signature!

It’s concerning that there’s no transparent process for how certificates are issued, and I’ve received inconsistent responses from Home Affairs. The latest instruction was to return to my induction center, as they claim to have records of what happened afterward. However, I believe Home Affairs is deliberately withholding certificates based on the old 10-year PRP requirement—even though the High Court overturned this rule, it seems the department is still enforcing it in practice.

The department is currently implementing measures to ensure that the processing of all naturalisation applications through its

Naturalisation Adjudication Committee are finalised. All queries relating to the Induction/already inducted and/or awaiting Naturalisation certificates will be communicated by the department in due course.

Received a phone call from DHA inquiring if I have ever attended induction. I gave exact date & time in 2022, venue and name, email of facilitator and copy of attendance . Lady said she will get back to me in a mth or two.

Did you make an inquiry or they just ed to if you did attend the induction? Will she come back to you for certificate or say yes you did attend the induction ?

So, did the year end without a single certificate being issued, or has anyone received a certificate?

At this point, home affairs remains silent about whether to issue the certificates or not. It’s a long journey!

apparently they have backlog of issuing the certificates without giving any induction on the way going forward.

I don't think anyone has received any certificates yet. Why start from 2019, what of other years

Unfortunately, I have no clue! Hopefully we will have a better idea after 30 June 2024

Just a quick update on naturalisation certificates. Currently Home Affairs, just busy with 2019 applications for final approval and hand over their certificates. Did anyone receive the certificate yet?

There was an induction in Johannesburg (Harrison St.) on Wednesday. Take my word certificates are coming out very soon. Christmas present awaits.

I did follow up with them. Apparently they have no clue

Good progress, lets celebrate these small wins. There are batches of guys inducted early and mid 2022, early and mid 2023; still no certificates issued. Some guys inducted in 2022 repeated the process this year. Not a smooth trackable process, things happen when they happen, cant be pushed.....

Do you have any idea why no certificate yet?

Anyone been called to sign Declaration of Allegiance yet? Been super quiet since inductions were done. Not sure if delay has anything to do with Citizenship regulations which the Minister briefly published via DHA website and immediately retracted....

unfortunately, nothing yet. Do you have any idea about the new regulations as I cannot see any update yet

I attended induction on the 23rd of May 2023 in Johannesburg. No certificate yet.

Any news yet on the certificate? I believe the certificate would be within 3 weeks from now. Usually 3 months after attending the inductions!

Induction done in KZN. Was an interactive session around the Constitution & Bill of rights. Certificates will be ready in 2-3 weeks time, all other things being equal. Well attended session, some guys travelled from other provinces.

Does that only apply to KZN? as far as I know no certificate has been issued to anyone yet. If anyone received the certificate from Gauteng please inform us!

Inductions in KZN offices 11 - 13 July. You pick one day. Start time 9am

My naturalisation application was approved Dec 2022. Today I received sms stating "Adjudication on your application is now complete". Not sure what this means since Ive bn waiting for induction date since Dec?

The best way is to go home affairs office to see if you scheduled to attend the induction this year.

Hi John , can you please share how long it took for your approval? I have Proof of PRP / Letter of dual nationality from Home country as well as IELTS English test result and list of all the trips in/out RSA ( way below permitted 450 days) Was your PRP Under Critical Skills ? Thank you

My application processed within 6 months! From verification to induction almost 12 months.
