Another Visa Question

Hi Everyone,

long time follower of this forum but my 1st post.

I've read many questions and posts on various visas and I am happy to apply for the 13A when we settle in Philippines later this year.
My Filipina wife and I will move to Philippines in September, we already have our house built and cant wait to settle there. I am a UK National.

My question is regarding the Balikbayan visa upon arrival. We will arrive together so I should get the 1yr visa without issue upon presentation of our marriage certificate. I have to then leave the Philippines alone around 6 weeks later so will I encounter any issues arriving without my wife on my return?

Will I need another flight exiting the country within the 1 year period? I will start the process of applying for the 13A when I return

Thanks for any advice
Mike

The rules , as I recall, state that you should be traveling together.. but rules are sometimes forgotten especially if you have a kindly Immig officer and can show the marriage cert and previous Balikbayan visa.
Ypu will find in Philippines that there are rules, and ways of doing things that dont always exactly correlate.
Others may state different answers.. .this is the Philippines where logic doesnt always apply.

Thanks Grahamw57. Not the answer I was hoping for.

Probably the best option then would be to enter initially on a 30 day visitor visa then extend for further 30 days. When I leave after 6 weeks and at the end of my trip, my wife could meet me overseas then we re-enter Philippines together and then get the Balikbayan visa.

Thanks for all the answers.

I had to do something similar last year. In March I went on a cycling tour in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Came in on the 30 day waiver, had to buy an onward ticket at Ho chi min airport because my later flight to the UK was 58 days, need to be within the 30 day. I then extended 29 days before flying to the UK again coming in on the 30 day. Within that time I took my wife to Taiwan for a few days then came back as a balikbayan.
