It depends on where you are relocating to, and what kind of background check you may need. Some countries need them for long-stay visas. Or, you may need a background check depending on the type of job you are going for. Also some countries may ask for background checks only when you apply for naturalization.

 

Are there any specific rules for EU countries? I'm thinking about Spain, but possibly other EU countries. Depends on where I find a job.
