Is direct deposit going to be required for Canadian govt pension cheques sent to US residents?

Hi, I'm a retired dual Canadian/American citizen living permanently now in the US. According to the note on the envelope of my last mailed cheque, "All Gov't. of Canada payments will soon be issued by Direct Deposit" . Does this mean that the Canadian Government is going to require direct deposit of Canadian pension cheques for US residents, rather than continuing to mail them directly to the pensioner? If so, is this a new requirement? Thanks!

Direct Deposit means sent directly to your bank . Personally I think its the easiest way. Just give your bank details when asked.
