Hi everyone,
I have just received my green card. I was happy to finally have it but at the same time I feel lost.
I married a US citizen and we have a child together. We are happy that we can finally stay together but our financial situation is terrible. We live with my mother in-law and my husband makes less than 20000 a year.
I couldnt wait to go back to work but we cant afford daycare. I dont know where to start I dont know what to do. I dont know if I will be easily hired somewhere.
I have a degree in Art Visual communication in which means I will hardly find anything.
Please do you have any suggestions? I truly need help.

To add to twostep's comments, it's not at all unusual in the US to take a job in something completely unrelated to what you studied. (Not so much in , as I realize from living here for 20 years.)

To get yourself started, you should look into retail (i.e. the shops in the local mall) or office work (especially if they need someone with French language abilities). It gives you a record of having worked in the US, which is handy later on when you want to switch jobs. And, as twostep mentioned, the shops should begin taking on temporary staff (interims) to work through the Christmas shopping season. An excellent way to get started in the US job market.
Cheers,
Bev
