Hi everyone, I need info about PR appeal. I got my PR outcome and it was rejected citing reasons that "The Department of Home Affairs was unable to the authenticity of your current visa issued at South Africa High Commission in Lagos".
I submitted my application on January 20, 2022, which was before the policy change for SA graduate on February 1, 2022. I applied under critical skills as a data scientist and software developer.
This outcome is devastating because the visa that I submitted with the PR application was my study visa obtained validly from the SA embassy in Lagos in 2019 for my PhD in Computer Science program at Stellenbosch University. I renewed the visa for one year before it expired to complete my PhD, and it was approved.
After the completion of my PhD, I got a postdoc offer in the same institution, and I applied for a research visa of two years using the renewed visa, and it was approved. I have always maintained a legal status in SA. Thus, I was surprised to received this outcome.
I wanted know if anyone has received a similar outcome, and I would like to get your opinions about what steps to appeal the situation. I would also appreciate any suggestions about an experienced immigration attorney that could help. Thank you.
