I would like to apply for South Africa citizenship by naturalization. Travel records of the past 5 yrs are required. Unfortunately, i lost my port in April 2018 which means i don't have any records prior to that date. How can i successful convince Dept of Home Affairs that i never left South Africa for more than 90 days in the past 5 yrs? Can i use an affidavit, employer's letter or bank statement at least to prove that i was around.

I think your best shot is to go to DHA and ask them this question. From my experience they are very reasonable and the person will tell you what they are willing to accept. different DHA offices can have different tolerances. So its best to go and ask at the DHA office you will be applying.
Do you have your proof of PR already and how long did it take to come out?

I did verification of PR. It took 4 months via VFS. One office said i must do an affidavit stating my case and the other said we need those records. So it shows nothing but confusion. That is why im asking.

Yes i did submit my application but from the look of things it will take ýears to get an outcome or never. Lots of documents laying everywhere around the office. Some signed Declarations of Allegiance forms were just thrown all over the place. In one corner there was a thick file with finger print forms yet to be sent for criminal record checks. The language test is just a formality. I was asked which languages can i speak and that was it. Told to start checking after 9 months.

Which branch of DHA was it, please?

Can anyone please advise urgently? I did apply for my naturalisation at Randburg. However they didn’t put my trace and track 035 and no reference Number. However I paid 300 rand. They told me! There will be an interview. The manager will call you either this week or next week. Did Anyone face this before? What does that mean?

Hi Cleo
Also following this thread. Havent been ed by DHA since application was approved late last year.
Told not to worry about below rule:
An application lapses if declaration of allegiance is not signed within 6mths of approval date.
NB: but then you cant sign allegiance before you are inducted

I got my PRP spouse in Feb 2020 and did not submit for the compliance condition i only submitted now in April 2023 with all the required docs showing the sharing of financial responsibilities, the PART B affidavit to the [email protected] my question is will it be an issue that i submitted these late ? Please assist with clear answers

I doubt very much if it will be a problem. In anycase the that Permitcompliance@dha email address is a blackhole. You send email and never get . But just keep safe the email you sent incase in future, someone asks you for proof of compliance (they will at Naturalisation app stage).

You don’t need to be called or emailed. If your application was approved! You may go to the place where you applied, you can them put to your name on the list! Some ppl went to attended the induction without being called. The trainer will put your name on list of attendees. s/he will update the system. Wait for two weeks to get certificate! After you informed about certificate, wait another one week to apply for ID. the process of getting ID won’t be more 14 working days. On the same of getting ID, you can apply for the port. You will get it within 5 working days. The good news all ppl applied for citizenship from 2018 until now they will get their certificates before November 2023.

My naturalisation application was approved Dec 2022. Today I received sms stating "Adjudication on your application is now complete". Not sure what this means since Ive bn waiting for induction date since Dec?

Hi KGM , was your PRP also under Critical Skills? Just trying to gauge how long it takes for Spousal 26B Naturalisation , I head it is substantially longer (not a surprise)
Thank you

Induction done in KZN. Was an interactive session around the Constitution & Bill of rights. Certificates will be ready in 2-3 weeks time, all other things being equal. Well attended session, some guys travelled from other provinces.

We were told process is as follows:
1. Attendance to be ed on system
2. Pretoria to capture induction against each one in attendance
3. Pretoria to print certificates and send to Maritzburg regional office
4. Applicants to be called by Maritzburg regional mgr in 2-3 weeks to come sign allegiance & collect cert (same time advised to apply for new ID & pt)
5. Come back to Citizenship counter and add your wife & kids (no need for proof of PR for them. Their citizenship automatically flows from main applicant)

Can you explain again in more detail point number 5 of adding wife and kids. Are you saying once you get your citizenship your spouse and kids automatically also become citizens without them going through a similar application process?
