Hello Everyone,
I have 10 years of work experience in India and Europe, and I am going to apply for a CSV visa. I also plan to apply for a PRP under Section 27(b) once I reach South Africa. Is it possible for me to apply for PRP the day after I land in South Africa? Is it mandatory to have five years of work experience in South Africa to be eligible for PRP?
Also when I apply for PRP, am I supposed to submit my port? My concern is would I be able to travel during the waiting period of PR process. TIA.

You qualify for PRP, but first, you need to apply for CSV. To do this, I recommend starting with your MIE employee verification check. You'll need to create a Cash and Credit under EPCV, select the employee verification product, and provide reference letters from your employers. Once your verification is complete, you'll receive the necessary documentation.

Next, you'll need to obtain your SAQA qualification evaluation if you don’t have a South African university qualification. Additionally, it’s a good idea to with a professional body in your industry.

Once you have all the required documents, you can apply for your CSV. After receiving it, you’ll be able to apply for the PRP, as you meet the 10-year experience requirement, which exceeds the 5 years typically requested.

Once your PRP application is in process, you’ll be able to travel with your CSV. The good news is that CSV processing times are generally quite fast these days.

Good luck!

Thanks for your quick and detailed response. My question is there any time limit for applying PR if we have the CSV?
Also regarding travel, if i want to travel out of SA during the waiting period, would that be a concern? Are we supposed to submit the port during the waiting period? or is it done only during the last stage after approval?

Regarding your questions:
  1. No, you won’t need to wait. Since you have already met the five-year requirement, you can apply for your PRP as soon as you receive your CSV.
  2. No, you should always keep your port with you. VFS does not take it, so you will be able to leave the country with your CSV. However, it’s important to ensure that both you and the company listed on your contract are reachable, as Home Affairs may sometimes people via phone or email for verification.
Good luck!
