The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) allows us expats to and vote. What do you think the impact of the new executive order about in-person proof of citizenship will have on us?

I realize that the current law is more binding that an executive order but there are plenty of people out there that are ignoring laws lately, especially congress.

Anyone try to lately? I sent off an email asking the county clerk where I if anything has changed.

Maybe they can use the social security method of ID verification to allow us to . In my opinion making everyone walk into a county cleck office to prove your citizenship is going to impact actual citizens more than any supposed fraud actors. Since maybe half of the population has a port and not everyone has a official birth certificate, might be hard on the old folks again. Oh well, I have a port so bring it on

It is likely just another executive order that will be overturned in the courts. The states control voting and this would require them to make some expensive changes they will fight in court. I am not worried about it. Voting by non-citizens is so small as to be a non issue. Georgia did an audit and out of 8.2 million voters they found 20 who had ed and 6 who voted. Most were legal residents who thought they could . It's hard enough to get US citizens to vote anyway.
