During lockdown last year we started a little ritual Friday Night is Vinyl Night, and every Friday after dinner we used to go up to his "music room" and settle down and play LPs.
We've picked the ritual up again, last Friday we listened to the Doors, and we enjoyed it so much we've decided to play our way end to end through all his Doors LPs.

I have to confess that I only recently discovered The Killers....I love live music performances.

For Yours truly confused... 'Why' is my fave, but Annie's first hit was 'No more I love you's' this is the original....

 

Thanks for that, not come across it before. Annie and her fellow “divas” are my go to music when having to tackle those tasks I dislike such as cleaning. Wind up the volume and dance my way around the house to either Annie, Kirsty McCall, Joan Osborne etc.
As boilerman says, in that era they could generally hold a decent tune and you could understand the words.
Had a quick glance at the vinyl shelf, quite eclectic, from Jethro Tull through to the Carpenters. Time to warm up the deck and speakers me thinks.

 

I have never really liked this song (at least, not consciously), but in the days before I headed out here to San Francisco on Saturday to visit my sons for Thanksgiving, this is what I kept finding myself singing...

 

Whats noticeable about any of the bands from the 70s/80s, whether you liked them or not, was, they always had a really good singer, and this is no exception

 

Here's a far better song...to my tastes at least. I'm definitely a lyrics person.

 

One more...this is maybe a group you haven't heard of though they are kind of medium-popular in the US. The bass player went to high school with my kids and even then she was just amazing on the string bass...

 

I saw Lake Steet Dive at a festival in Ireland (I think Ballydehob?) around 5 years ago! They were excellent.. I love this one
