When i try to get a slot it says "no times are available....
I had to use DHA an hour from where I live to find available slots but can also say when i was booking for my spouse and son few years back ( they are both RSA citizens) it took about 3 weeks to find available slot , just keep checking , what worked for me was logging in at 5am ( i used BABS system - not eHomeAffairs)

Hey how did your appointment go... what documents were required and all that?
It took 3 hours.... plus an hour to get there and an hour to get back...so 5 hours in total ,I had my PRP Certificate ands ID book and my Spouses copy of ID , none were requested or copied, they took my fingerprints and digital photo , confirmed current address and cell phone number , that's it! R140 paid in cash , apparently it will be ready between 4-6 weeks. I live in Hillcrest(KZN) and travelled to Scottburgh Branch

How long is it going to take to sign the certificate?
No one outside the DHA head office can answer this. They haven't even changed my ID number yet. System only shows last update 'completed induction'.

Sometimes I wonder how much authority does Dr Schreiber have in DHA? I don't think he would like to see people suffering but I think he may not even be aware that certificates are not being given to people. I am not as excited about him as I was in July 2024. It seems like nothing in DHA has changed since Dr Motsoaledi's tenure with regards to citizenship applications. By the way, he's the only new face on the top Management, from Deputy minister, DG, all DDGs, .. they're all Dr Motsoaledi's team. In short, tighten your seat belt.

Just pray that the current white minister stays long enough until this whole issue is resolved. Once a black minister comes in i doudt if people will ever get their certificates.
Judging by what the minister said in the last home affairs portfolio committee meeting, it seems he is not aware of the delays with certificates. He said he doesn't want to see home affairs taken to court again due to exorbitant moneys they end up paying. That DHA should work efficiently. So if he's taken to court about this certificate issue, he may start to get aware. Though I don't encourage court action, but this is really a quagmire.

By the way, someone who finished induction in 2023 and has frequented visiting office of application to inquire about his certificate, he's always told 'relax, due to the backlog, the minister is still g certificates of 2020 , he can't jump those people and start g for people of 2023'. But this is a lie. I saw the certificate of someone who got in 2022. The signature is a digital one. It's already on the certificate before you're called for induction.

For people who finished induction a few years ago, you'll be surprised to see the date the certificate was signed, if you manage to get the certificate.

It’s concerning that there’s no transparent process for how certificates are issued, and I’ve received inconsistent responses from Home Affairs. The latest instruction was to return to my induction center, as they claim to have records of what happened afterward. However, I believe Home Affairs is deliberately withholding certificates based on the old 10-year PRP requirement—even though the High Court overturned this rule, it seems the department is still enforcing it in practice.

That's true. I must add that considering the extra hurdles of POP & waiting for citizenship approval, induction, certificate. By the time you're done with all this, your 10 years are up.

Even in my own case where I got exceptional skills visa and PR in the same year, I have so far waited for more than 10 years since I got my PR. Anyway, there were problems with POP, after waiting endlessly for verification of PR. I had to wait for 4 years for POP.
